I bought several dozen
Kyser finger
picks. They were very inexpensive ($1 each list) and bear a strong
similarity to the old Nationals. They are very
easy to shape, so tinkering with them for fit and feel is no problem. And they came in this nice plastic box!
They are much nicer than the original contemporary Nationals (aka NP1), but then so is just about anything else. I think they are at least the equal of the newer National model, the NP2.
I'm glad I stocked up because it appears that the picks are no longer available (May 2007). The product page at Kyser is no longer online and my inquiry to the company has gone unanswered. Janet Davis Music used to have them at $2.49 each, a huge premium over the original list price, but as of this writing (Dec 2007) they show as "not available at this time."
I see that Elderly seems to have them in stock (Dec 2007).
I had about half my stash of Kysers plated with Cobalt BP. I think I'm set for life.
